Black is still slimming right? Straight lines are better because horizontal lines make you look big don’t they? These are two classic though processes women think about when trying to find clothes to make them look thinner. There are several tips and tricks you can use to help you decide what clothes are going to make you look slimmer.

First, look for clothes that are in colors that compliment your skin tone. Avoid sharply contrasting colors because they draw attention to the parts of your body that you are trying to cover up.

Try to pick out designs that accentuate the thinner parts of your body. Try using vertical lines. These typically make you seem thinner to the eye. Narrow lines, when placed further apart from each other can also make you look thinner.

Make sure you are picking out clothes that fit. A large chunk of women appear larger than they are simply because they don’t pick out the right clothes for their bodies. You’ll need to find a happy median. If clothes are too baggy then you will appear larger even though you aren’t filling out the whole piece. On the other hand, don’t pick out clothes that are skin tight either. Not only is this just a fashion no-no, but tight clothes will only highlight and draw attention to your trouble spots.

The colors of the pieces that you use will also make a difference in how thin you look. Traditionally darker clothes will make you look thinner rather than brightly colored ones. However, no two woman’s bodies are alike and what works with one might not work with the other or vice versa. You can also mix colors as well to avoid too make dark colors. Simply use color on the areas you want to highlight and dark colors on the areas you want to cover up.

Although it can sometimes be tough to buy clothes that make us look thinner, there are several things you can do to make sure that you are putting your best face out to the world and look great too.
